NEW ZEALAND - South Island Christchurch
Christchurch is one of the gateways to New Zealand's South Island and is known as the Garden City. Following the 2010-2011 earthquakes, Christchurch has re-emerged as a vibrant, ever-changing city, even if works are still in progress on some buildings. Christchurch is crossed by Avon River and was established in 1850 by Anglican English settlers and this heritage shows in its fine older buildings, especially the neo-gothic buildings in the cultural precinct along Worcester Boulevard and Rolleston Avenue.
