Dress Code

When travelling : always choose confortable clothes and don't forget a warm jacket because temperature can be chilly, in-flight or airports, with air conditionned.  The same advice (fleece jacket + raincoat) applied for some visits or excursions (day cruise, mountain excursion..) : the weather is hot when you leave, but can change and become chilly or cold later. Always travel with confortable shoes for excursions and visits.
Different countries have different dress codes. But the same point is that you should wear suitably in all circumstances (excursions, visits, restaurant, party, beach..).
In all countries, you have to respect the local traditions and culture : don't wear "beach" clothes likes shorts, bathing suits .. in cities for instance. Look around and don't be the only person dressed in a different way.
Never forget : the easterners and oriental or muslim people are more conservative than the westerners. Therefore, if you are a western lady, you are suggested to wear kind of conservative clothes. Otherwise, you will become a very eye-catching icon among the people or you might also face aggressiveness in some cases.
For many religious visits (temples, shrines, synagogues, churches..), a dress code applied and you might miss the visit if you aren't dressed properly.
For Bhuddist, Hindu temples and for Mosques : you have to leave your shoes outside.

For men : short pants aren't appreciated in religious monuments, but most restrictions applied for women.
Pants (short or long), short skirt or discovered shoulders aren't allowed for women in some religious monuments : we advice you to wear sleeves for such visits and to keep a "pareo" in your bag to cover your shoulders or your legs in case.
