Airport    -    Check-in  -   Web Check-in

Internet is a valuable tool for travellers:
- Before the trip, you can check your schedule online. It can happen that some changes are not always the subject of an e-mail from airlines.  If you are leaving from a large airport : also check your terminal number.

Check before you leave the requirements of the airline for the size/weight of baggage (cabin and hold) and restrictions (liquids, blunt objects...) on your luggage. Take a transparent plastic bag for the liquids in your cabin luggage.

Allow sufficient time before departure in order to be present in time at the airport or train station. Few travel insurers provide missed departure cover and you will probably repay the full price of a new ticket if you miss your flight or train (unless you have purchased flexible tickets).

Remember during busy periods that queues at registration, luggage or security can be significant.
Also be aware that some airlines are overbooking their flights : which means if all passengers won't fly - so don't be the last passenger to check-in.

Before leaving for the airport make sure you have your passport, driving license, your vaccination mandatory vaccines, your money and credit cards, your phone, your computer/tablet and your camera with sufficient memory cards (not to mention chargers and cables for all devices) ..
- Before departure: you can register on the internet (web check-in) and Print your boarding card (boarding pass) so that you can present it at the counter of the company for the hold baggage. Then introduce yourself to the security check-in and get to your gate.

- When you have reach your gate,  seat closed to the flights information screen/display  and check regularly informations for your flight  : gate because it can change and flight status (boarding, delayed..). In some airports, check directly with the staff.

Also, before choosing an airline, check its e-reputation on internet. Avoid the ones with an abnormal number of accidents.

We took one airline, because we don't have the choice, and they displayed on their ticket in the fine print  :

“We advise clients not to make any engagements on the scheduled day of travel, or the day after…” I.e. we make no guarantee you will arrive on the date of your ticket, and perhaps not even the next day.  😊  Usually the flight does go the same day, and sometimes even on time, and sometimes even 30-45 minutes early, but a good dose of flexibility is helpful.  😊"

Fortunately it's an exception.
