Deception Island

Deception Island is one of the world's most unique destinations. An ancient eruption blew the central portion of the island away, after which it flooded with water, so Deception is now a horseshoe-shaped island. Protected by high cliffs and a narrow entrance (Neptune's Bellows) this 12km wide amphitheatre was used by whalers.
Deception Island is a very popular place to stop for tourist ships as it's possible to go "swimming" in the waters of Pendulum Cove that are heated by ongoing volcanic activity.
